Heroes of Might and Magic V Is Getting a Fan Remaster on Unreal Engine

The project is modestly titled Heroes 5: Reborn.

For several years, the Heroes of Might and Magic V community has been buzzing with efforts to port the game to a new engine. Now, that effort has taken a significant leap forward—the first gameplay footage of Heroes 5: Reborn has been released.

This project is a faithful port of the vanilla Heroes of Might and Magic V—with all its charm and clunkiness—onto Unreal Engine 5. Of course, some rough edges have been smoothed out. In the first gameplay showcase, the Heroes 5: Reborn team demonstrated minor UI improvements and quality-of-life enhancements.

According to the developers, they have successfully transferred all core game mechanics to Unreal Engine and have partially implemented visual features like the town view window. However, the multiplayer module and map editor are still in development.

For now, the team’s main goal is completing the “Order of the Order” faction and recruiting testers for the first playable build featuring this faction.
