Starfinder: Afterlight RPG Reaches $350K+ on Kickstarter

The upcoming tactical RPG Starfinder: Afterlight has made an impressive entrance onto the crowdfunding stage, surpassing its Kickstarter goal within hours of launch. Drawing from the universe of the well-regarded Starfinder tabletop role-playing game, the project has already amassed over $350,000—over four times its initial ask.

A Sci-Fi Tactical RPG with Tabletop Roots

Developed by Yarrow Games and licensed by Paizo, Starfinder: Afterlight adapts the lore, factions, and mechanics of the tabletop RPG into a single-player computer game experience. It retains its sci-fi setting, tactical turn-based combat, and extensive character customization, while introducing a branching narrative and squad-focused strategy reminiscent of XCOM or Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Backers will explore a galaxy on the brink of political collapse, encountering corporate wars, alien artifacts, and deeply personal crew storylines. The game promises a player-driven narrative with decisions that alter both story progression and crew dynamics.

A Strong Start and High Expectations

The rapid success of the Kickstarter campaign suggests strong enthusiasm for sci-fi RPGs and tabletop adaptations alike. Early concept art and prototype footage released during the campaign highlight a hybrid between classic isometric RPGs and modern cinematic storytelling.

Starfinder: Afterlight is targeting Early Access on Steam sometime in 2026. If current momentum continues, it’s likely to become one of the more notable indie RPGs in development—and a rare example of a space-faring tactical game built directly from pen-and-paper lineage.

With stretch goals already being unlocked and community support mounting, Yarrow Games has positioned Afterlight not just as a love letter to Starfinder fans, but as a potential standout in the broader RPG landscape.
